What the UTOPY stainless steel insulated bottle can do
An insulated bottle works with two stainless steel walls with a vacuum between them. Air (or rather its absence) is the best thermal insulator there is – so heat doesn't escape and the cold doesn't get in. In practice: your morning coffee stays hot until your lunch break, and iced tea survives a whole day in the car without the ice melting.
Who the UTOPY bottle is for, and when
- For work
- Morning coffee still hot at nine, tea for lunch still hot. In your bag, on your desk, in the meeting room – well designed, so you look better with it than with an anonymous metal flask.
- For sport and the gym
- Water or an electrolyte drink for training. Still cold after your session. The bottle won't get scratched by other things in your backpack.
- For the car and the mountains
- An insulated bottle in your cup holder. Coffee hot on your morning drive, water cold on the road. The double wall also copes with higher temperatures inside (hot tea) without deforming.
- For trips and the outdoors
- In your backpack on a hike or at camp. Compact, lighter than a can of the same volume, and it won't leak (sealed lid).
Water bottle, insulated bottle and stainless steel bottle – what's what
- Water bottle (standard)
- Plastic or single-wall metal. Light, cheap, doesn't hold temperature. Suitable for short sports activities when you don't mind your drink warming up.
- Stainless steel bottle (single-wall)
- Made of precision steel, doesn't absorb odours, hygienic. Holds temperature only briefly. A step between plastic and an insulated bottle.
- Insulated bottle (double-wall)
- Our UTOPY bottles. Keep the temperature for several hours. Suitable for all-day use – for work, training or a trip.
Caring for your stainless steel insulated bottle
- Wash the inside with a soft bottle brush – a standard dishwasher can damage the lid seal
- Regularly unscrew the lid and rinse the sealing ring (that's where most bacteria hide)
- To remove odours (coffee / tea), use lukewarm water with a teaspoon of baking soda + leave to stand for an hour
- Don't put it in the freezer – vacuum insulation, frost can damage the construction
Tip from Terka in customer service: The most common question I deal with in support about bottles is “why doesn't my lid seal properly after two months?” – the answer is almost always a dried-out sealing ring. Just unscrew the lid regularly, take out the silicone ring, rinse it and put it back. A week on, it seals like it's fresh out of the box again.
FAQs about this category
Does an insulated bottle keep drinks hot for a whole working day?
Yes, a drink stays at its hottest for the first 4–6 hours, then lukewarm for up to 10 hours (depending on the outside temperature). For best results, preheat the bottle: before pouring in a hot drink, fill it with hot water for a minute, pour it out, then add your coffee. That gives you an extra hour.
Can I put an insulated bottle in the freezer?
No. The vacuum insulation between the walls is sensitive to severe frost – the construction can be damaged. The bottle will then stop holding temperature. If you want a cold drink, put ice cubes in the bottle instead of putting the bottle in the freezer.
How do I clean coffee or tea out of an insulated bottle?
Lukewarm water + a teaspoon of baking soda + leave to stand for an hour. Then rinse. Odours disappear. For extremely dried-on coffee, repeat 2×. We don't recommend harsh chemical cleaners – they can damage the lid seal.
Does an insulated bottle work with fizzy drinks (Coke, a small beer, juice)?
We don't recommend fizzy drinks in an insulated bottle with a tight lid – the pressure can pop the lid off or damage the silicone seal. Juice is fine (it doesn't foam). For Coke / beer / energy drinks, use an open plastic or glass bottle instead.
A water bottle for kids – what size should I choose?
For children under 6, we recommend a smaller 300–400 ml bottle that is lighter and easy to grip. Our standard 500 ml bottle is for older children and adults. If you're buying a gift for a child, check the bottle's size against their hand in a shop first, or return it if it doesn't suit.
What goes with the UTOPY bottle
The bottle works better as part of an everyday set than on its own. If you want a matching theme, we recommend enamel mug from the same collection (coffee in the morning, the bottle during the day), backpack for carrying, and the bamboo version for the outdoors. To complete your outfit, add sports t-shirts or tracksuit bottoms.
