When to choose a basic sweatshirt
A basic sweatshirt is for when you want UTOPY sweatshirt comfort without a bold motif: working from home, with a simple outfit, under a coat in winter, or for sport when another piece should carry the motif. Basic is a quiet backdrop – it lets the motif stand out elsewhere.
200 °C sublimation – why even for basics
UTOPY basic pieces are not pre-dyed fabric. They go through the same sublimation at 200 °C in our workshop in Měšice near Prague as the motif pieces – the colour is chemically bonded into the Nest polyester fibre, not applied on top as a pigment. The result: the colour cannot wash out or fade in the sun, and it lasts as long as the fabric itself. The only difference from the motif pieces – instead of an original design, you get one solid colour across the entire surface.
Nest 200 g/m² fabric
Fabric Nest 200 g/m² – 95% polyester with 5% elastane. The same jersey as our men's sweatshirts with motifs. Sublimation only works on polyester fibres – which is why UTOPY basic sweatshirts aren't cotton but fully sublimated polyester in a single colour.
Outfit combinations
Basic sweatshirt + a bold UTOPY sports t-shirt with a motif underneath = motif below, quiet top layer. Basic sweatshirt + shorts = summer sport. Basic sweatshirt under a coat/jacket = a functional mid-layer in winter.

Care
Wash inside out at 30 °C, no fabric softener or bleach, dry flat, iron only on the reverse at a low temperature.
Tip from Gabi in the workshop: “People often come back and add a basic sweatshirt to their basket after their first motif one. The reason: a motif UTOPY sweatshirt is a statement piece, while basic is the quiet everyday backup – but sublimated just the same, so the colour lasts just as long. If you want one UTOPY sweatshirt to wear 3-4× a week, basic is the more practical choice.”
