When a long sleeve t-shirt makes sense
Long sleeves are the seasonal answer for when short sleeves aren't enough and a sweatshirt is too much. Think spring and autumn, early-morning runs, a chilly gym, an air-conditioned office. It works on its own or as a mid layer under a sweatshirt or softshell. At UTOPY, long sleeves are just as much about the design as short sleeves – sublimation carries the design across the whole garment, sleeves included.
Sport vs lifestyle – when to choose which
UTOPY long sleeve t-shirts work in two modes:
- Sport – the technical knit wicks sweat, moves with you and doesn't hold moisture. For running, training, short hikes and morning dog walks.
- Lifestyle and layering – same piece, different role. Under a sweatshirt, with leggings, for travelling. It also works on its own as an everyday top.
Material and fit
For the technical versions we use Drift – polyester microfibre (93%) with elastane (7%). A fine knit that's breathable and springs back into shape. We choose cotton versions (Calm) where everyday feel matters more than performance. The fit is sporty – a longer sleeve with plenty of room across the shoulders, not a skin-tight top. You'll find the material details for each piece in its product description.
Outfits and pairing
A UTOPY long sleeve goes well with women's leggings or thermal leggings from the same palette. On a cooler day, add a sweatshirt or a zip-up sweatshirt as an outer layer you can throw on quickly. For running in late autumn, add a headband.
Caring for your long sleeve t-shirt
- Wash at 30 °C, inside out, without fabric softener – softener clogs the fibres and reduces the knit's performance
- Don't use bleach – it damages elastane
- Dry flat in the shade, not in a tumble dryer on high heat
- A sublimated design can't wash out – colours stay vivid even after dozens of washes
Tip from Terka on our socials team: "A long sleeve works as a base for layering – a run in the morning, then work during the day with a sweatshirt on top. Choose a design that won't clash with your sweatshirt: if the sweatshirt is bold, keep the t-shirt calmer, and vice versa. For social media photos, contrast works best – a dark sweatshirt with a lighter t-shirt showing at the sleeve."
200 °C sublimation – why our designs last
We print using sublimation at 200 °C in our workshop in Měšice near Prague. The dye bonds chemically with the polyester fibre and becomes a permanent part of the fabric. The design can't peel or rub off, and it doesn't fade even after dozens of washes. It only works on polyester knits – Drift, Pulse, Nest, Stride – and on the polymer coating of enamel mugs and bottles. For cotton versions (Calm) we use other printing technologies.
The UTOPY brand promise: "Never washes out, never fades." It applies to every sublimated design.
Frequently asked questions
Is a long sleeve t-shirt warm enough on its own?
For spring and autumn, yes. In late autumn and winter it works better as a layer under a sweatshirt or softshell. Drift regulates temperature well, but it isn't a thermal material – for freezing weather, choose thermal leggings and a warmer outer layer.
What size should I choose?
UTOPY t-shirts have a sporty fit – they follow your silhouette but don't feel tight across the shoulders. If you're between sizes, go for the smaller one. You'll find detailed measurements in size chart.
Does the sleeve reach all the way to the wrist?
Yes, it's a classic length. You'll always find the sleeve length measurement for each item in the product description.
